Buc-ee’s is fueling debate online after a sign displaying employee pay rates revealed that some store managers can earn as much as $275,000 a year without a college degree.

The pay scale, which has circulated widely on social media, lists cashiers, warehouse workers, maintenance employees and grocery stockers starting at $20 an hour. can earn between $150,000 and $200,000 annually, while general managers can make between $200,000 and $275,000.

The listed salaries and benefits sparked discussion on X, with some users calling them proof that six-figure careers don’t always require a college degree, while others argued the salaries reflect the pressure and responsibility that come with managing one of the chain’s massive stores.

MORE AMERICANS NOW EAT IN THEIR CARS THAN EVER BEFORE AS EXPERT REVEALS WHAT IT SAYS ABOUT MODERN LIFE

Eric Bowman, Georgia-based editor-in-chief of TravelPulse, told Fox News Digital that Buc-ee’s has grown far beyond a typical gas station, becoming a destination in its own right for road trippers.

“Buc-ee’s appeal is largely due to its large size,” Bowman said. “People, especially those who love a good , have long loved roadside attractions. That’s what Buc-ee’s has become.”

The Texas-based chain’s reputation for spotless restrooms, and memorable branding has helped build a devoted following, Bowman said.

“Add in a cute mascot and clever marketing … and the word spreads fast that it’s a place you have to see at least once,” he said.

Buc-ee’s wall of beef jerky, and Beaver Tots have become attractions of their own, although first-time visitors should expect crowds, Bowman added.

“If you’re in need of a quick stop, this place isn’t quite made for that,” he said. “You might have to wait for the bathroom. And you might easily get sucked into seeing what all is for sale in the non-food section. After all, it is its own roadside attraction now with a cult-like following.”

The salaries quickly sparked debate on X, with many users arguing the pay demonstrates there are lucrative careers outside the traditional college path.

“There are well-paying jobs available if you look for them,” one commenter wrote. “They may not be glamorous, they may not be what you dreamed of … but they are there.”

Another user said the pay scale makes “a compelling case” for younger generations to rethink taking on significant student debt for a college degree.

Others, however, argued the salaries should be viewed alongside the demanding workload required to manage one of the country’s busiest travel centers.

“But you are going to have to work,” one commenter wrote. “No checking social media while you’re working. No texting your friends while working.”

Another said Buc-ee’s success makes the higher salaries understandable.

“It’s the only gas station I go to where I fill my tank for under $50, but still find a way to spend another $100,” the user wrote.

Some people also compared the salaries to their own professions, saying they were surprised Buc-ee’s managers could earn more than workers in traditionally high-paying careers.

One commenter, who identified himself as a longtime air traffic controller and Air Force veteran, said he was stunned to see some Buc-ee’s managers could earn more than he does.

“I’ve worked one of the most stressful jobs in America for almost 30 years … and don’t get paid what this says.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Buc-ee’s for comment.
